Who Should Apply...Eligibility
Students who are majoring in any branch of science, math, engineering
and technology are encouraged to apply.
This program is not a job. It is an internship and is intended to
support the intellectual and professional development of students who
have a sincere desire to be fully involved in a program that offers an
intensive, mentored scientific research experience. It is particularly
helpful to students who have not had a chance to work in an advanced research
environment and want to explore career opportunities in science, engineering
and technology.
Applicant Requirements
To be eligible, applicants:
- Must be currently enrolled full time as an undergraduate student in a community
college or accredited two year college and completed at least one semester.
- Must be 18 years or older at the start of the program.
- Must be United States Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien.
- Must have earned a high school diploma or GED.
- Can participate in a maximum one CCI internship.
- Must have coverage under a health insurance plan. It is the responsibility
of each participant to secure insurance coverage before arriving at
the appointment site.
- Must be enrolled in at least six hours of coursework at the time of
application.
- Must be interested in a career in science, engineering, or technology
(including computer science).
- Students must have passed at least 12 credit hours of coursework toward
a degree (with at least 6 credit hours in science, mathematics, engineering,
or technology courses) at the community college at the time the application
is submitted.
Students are limited to the number and type of appointments they can
receive. Students attending a Community College are encouraged to apply
to the Community College Institute for Science and Technology first in
order to be eligible for the maximum number of internships; however,
Community
College students and Pre-Service Teachers are also eligible to apply
for Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships.
