A Clear Solution for Dirty Water Tim Lougheed Abstract Worldwide, as many as 2 billion people drink water that could be harmful to their health because of the presence of parasites, bacteria, viruses, or heavy metals. Now household products company Procter & Gamble has added a new weapon to the point-of-use water treatment arsenal. As part of its Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program, the company has developed PUR™, a simple new method to purify drinking water. Each packet of PUR—which consists of flocculant agents and powdered bleach—can purify up to 10 liters of water.
