Biodiesel: Cultivating Alternative Fuels Biodiesel: Cultivating Alternative Fuels

Charles W. Schmidt

Abstract

Biodiesel is now a key player in the alternative fuels market. Experts say that biodiesel could do much to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil, and many are touting its environmental benefits. A number of states are pushing for greater biodiesel use, and the federal government has established a tax credit as a growth incentive. However, biodiesel is not without its own environmental drawbacks, and quality issues surround its manufacture.
