Ambassador Danilovich Assumes Duties of Millennium Challenge Corporation CEO

Washington, D.C. —Today, Ambassador John J. Danilovich assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer for the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). He was unanimously confirmed by the Senate on October 7, 2005. The Ambassador today released this statement.

“I am honored to join the talented and experienced team at the Millennium Challenge Corporation who is working to achieve the noble mission of poverty reduction through sustainable economic growth. As I stated in my confirmation hearing, I am committed to improving MCC's operating model, including streamlining processes and providing better guidance to countries early in the process. Furthermore, I plan to focus on a more strategic vision: to be transformative, to stay targeted, and to deliver results.

“I look forward to working with Congress, other government agencies, and multilateral and bilateral institutions to invest the resources needed for countries to lift themselves out of poverty. I also want to collaborate with members of the development community, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to fight global poverty.

“I am eager to begin work on this important assignment and look forward to attending my first Board meeting tomorrow when the MCC Board will select eligible and threshold countries for fiscal year 2006.”
