House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. has decided to defer the vote scheduled for today in the committee on a resolution finding Attorney General Mukasey in contempt for failing to comply with a committee subpoena for documents. Attached is a letter from the Justice Department received last night that provided additional documents and accommodations to the committee and asked for such a deferral, and today's letter from the chairman agreeing to defer the matter but stressing the importance of reaching agreement promptly on production of the remaining subpoenaed documents.
