(Washington, DC)- Yesterday, the Judicial Conference of the United States delivered to the House of Representatives notification certifying "its determination that consideration of impeachment of United States District Judge G. Thomas Porteus (E.D. La.) may be warranted." That certification has been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary for consideration. House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) released the following statement today:
"Now that the Judicial Conference has completed its review of Judge Porteous's actions, the House Judiciary Committee will promptly review the materials provided by the Conference and determine what further action should be taken in this matter. We take these allegations and our duty to respond to them very seriously."
