(Washington, DC)- House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) released the following statement today concerning the on-going negotiations on Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) reform in response to comments made by congressional Republicans on this issue today:
"Given the sensitivity, complexity, and importance of this matter, I would hope that no party to the negotiations feels compelled to make 'take it or leave it' proclamations. It remains my hope that through continued good faith negotiations we can develop legislation that protects our nation while protecting our rights and liberties."
