Here is an interesting article from Radcliffe Public Policy Center:

STRENGTHENING WORKING FAMILIES

Keeping Jobs and Raising Families in Low-Income America: It Just Doesn't
Work Every working parent struggles to balance the demands of keeping a job
and raising a family, but working poor families are more likely to have a
family member with special needs and less likely to have job flexibility or
resources for substitute care. For families working in the bottom third of
the economy, the challenges are often insurmountable. This Radcliffe Public
Policy Center report shows that parents and employers both want to find
strategies for making work “work” for low-wage families.
