Money, money, money, money!
"NEA Foundation Innovation Grants"
The NEA Foundation will award up to 200 grants of $2,000 each for unique and
creative ideas that improve student achievement. Applications are invited
from teams of two or more public school teachers, education support
professionals, or public higher education faculty and staff.  Preference is
given to NEA members who serve economically disadvantaged and/or underserved
students.  Application deadline: March 15, 2002

To those interested in Adult Education Teacher Competencies:
In FY1998-99, Pennsylvania developed ATCS, Adult Teacher Competency
Standards. They have been field tested for the past two years in programs
throughout Pennsylvania and are currently being implemented statewide. To

The Annual Review of Adult Learning and Literacy, Volume 3  will be
published next week. Published by Jossey-Bass, this informative volume
includes a review the major policy and implementation activities of the
year 2000, a history of the U.S. Adult Education and Literacy System, a
review of the literature on adults with learning disabilities, an
overview of literacy assessment in ABE, a discussion of adult numeracy
in the U.S., an exploration of recent efforts to professionalize the field
of ABE through teacher certification, and a look at areas of interest in
Family Literacy.
