I just wanted to share some interesting information.

Child Trends' latest research brief provides a snapshot of working poor
families in 2001, focuses on the characteristics of children living in
poverty

The Child Trends research brief, Poor Families in 2001: Parents Working Less
and Children Continue to Lag Behind can be found at
http://www.childtrends.org/PDF/PoorFamiliesRB.pdf

A new indicator on the Child Trends Databank reports that non-Hispanic black
high school dropout rates have hit a historic low in 2001 of 11 percent,
further narrowing the black-white education gap. Hispanics, on the other
hand, continue to lag far behind blacks and whites, with a dropout rate of
27 percent.

Information on trends in dropout rates is available on the Child Trends
DataBank,
