ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Desoto County Middle School Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), at 420 East Gibson Street in Arcadia, will close as of 4 pm on Saturday, August 21. The school is ready to open for regular school activities.
Applicants may go to the Harold Recreation Center DRC at 23400 Harold Avenue, in Port Charlotte.
All DRC’s are open seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm.
On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
