Pelosi and Boehner Announce Members of House Democracy Assistance Commission
Washington, D.C – Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader John Boehner announced today the members of the House Democracy Assistance Commission. The Commission works with governments in emerging democracies around the world to help strengthen their democratic institutions.
“Through the sharing of their expertise and knowledge, this distinguished group of Members will assist those countries that are striving and sacrificing in the name of freedom of democracy,” Pelosi said.
“There are no greater causes than liberty and democracy, and no greater country to assist in their growth throughout the world than the United States,” Boehner said. “I’m grateful to these Members for dedicating their time and talents to this important commission.”
Speaker Pelosi appointed the following Democratic Members to the Commission:
