Hi: I would also look at sites such as Scholastic and PBS Teachers - great resources for teachers and students. http://www2.scholastic.com/browse/home.jsp Best, Laura ________________________________ From: technology-bounces at nifl.gov [mailto:technology-bounces at nifl.gov] On Behalf Of Pilisuk, Tammy (CDPH-CID-DCDC-IMM) Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2009 1:10 PM To: The Technology and Literacy Discussion List Subject: [Technology 1848] Re: Best Sites For Valentine's Day,President'sDay, Movie Trailers For ESL & More The Change.gov site, the official transition site, has been asking for all kinds of citizen participation. Also, Change.org is an independent group that is interesting with a variety of issues and the ability to contribute others. ________________________________ From: technology-bounces at nifl.gov [mailto:technology-bounces at nifl.gov] On Behalf Of Amanda Dunker Sent: Thursday, January 08, 2009 7:30 AM To: The Technology and Literacy Discussion List Subject: [Technology 1847] Re: Best Sites For Valentine's Day, President'sDay, Movie Trailers For ESL & More Hi Everyone! I work at an adult learning program that has a large population of teens mixed with "real" adults. We would like to do some sort of workshop about getting involved in politics online - whether it's local, national or global issues. We're going to try and capitalize on their Obama fervor. Does anyone have any ideas about good websites to go to? All I've got so far is learning how to write a good email to local representatives. In general, I think the people who would be attracted to this would be our younger students, who often have decent reading/writing ability. Thanks for any suggestions! -Amanda -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
