In response to Judith Sinclair's request for appropriate instructional
materials for her group of students that work in maintenance, I would
recommend the

Building Basics
ESOL Toolkit for General Construction, Landscaping, Painting, and Plumbing

This free resource can be found at:
http://www.valrc.org/publications/buildingbasics/

Building Basics is a multilevel curriculum for teaching students that have
expressed a need to learn English within the context of the construction
trades. It has been organized into four modules which can be downloaded
separately: General Construction, Curb Appeal (Landscaping), Painting,
and Plumbing.
The lessons provide a facilitator guide with step-by-step instructions for
implementation, facilitator materials, and learner handouts.

The visuals that go with each lesson are awesome.
