Presentation Abstract
Do your students or clients move out of one emotional crisis and into
another? Are your dropout rates higher than you'd like them to be? Do students,
clients or co-workers show anxiety, fears, frustration, anger, denial, and
blame? Are you seeing less progress than you think your students are capable of
making? Do you wonder why it is so difficult to change the way your program
provides services or why you can't seem to move some colleagues out of their
rut into implementing best practices?

Dr. Weisel will address how the emotions impact learning, how previous
negative educational experiences can impede progress, offer four research-based
best practices you can immediately use to help all learners or clients (or
co-workers) begin to manage their education-related baggage, recurring crisis
situations, and fears of success!

The third session, in this series of three webinars, will use webinar
participant examples to demonstrate how interventions can be effective in different
learning situations.

All webinar participants will receive a copy of all PowerPoints and a
workbook designed to support the webinar as a productive professional development
experience.

This three-part webinar session offers:
Session I Increasing Your Understanding:
The brain and why humans function the way the do
The latest research on how emotions impact learning
The affect of negative educational experiences and trauma on learning

Session II Rethinking Your Role - Four Interventions:
1. Installing Positive Futures
2. Building a 'Safe Place'
3. The Four Questions to Manage Crisis Situations
4. Facilitating Supportive Conversations that Matter

Session III Case Studies - Implementing Interventions

Dr. Weisel will take specific examples from webinar participants,

as a way for all participants to learn and grow as a
learning community
