[Assessment 273] Cost factors for assessments

$10 - yikes! Particularly if we are conducting these types of
assessments more than twice. However, before we give thumbs down because
of cost, I think we have to remember to factor in the "hidden" costs of
what we do now. We have teachers' or test administrators' time
"proctoring" the tests; we have time correcting the tests; sometimes
there is time taken from instruction. And if we are testing when we
consider that it's time for the student to test (even if it's as little
as 4 weeks or 40 hours), as opposed to a set 8 weeks, or 80 - 100 hours,
then the teacher needs to keep on teaching those who are not ready to
test, so we need another person to administer the test. So, again, what
are our true costs for what we do now as compared to this option?

Not that I'm gung-ho. I'm trying to figure out how to assure that
everyone has access to the Internet!!
