 Maddie Buchert had 12 points in her collegiate debut.
Sophomore Taryn Belowsky led the Golden Bears with 13 points as WNEC (3-2) snapped a two-game losing streak in a game that was tied 26-26 at halftime.
WNEC led by as many as 13 in the second half, 43-30 with 9:25 left.
The Golden Bears led 45-35 with 4:34 left when Coast Guard scored nine of the next 11 points to make it a one possession game, trailing 47-44 with 1:22 left.
Belowsky made a pair of free throws with 1:14 left to push the lead to 49-44 and the Golden Bears held on. |

 Stefan Lewis had a career-high 20 points to lead the Bears past Anna Maria.
Lewis, who hit a pair of trifectas in the first three minutes as the Bears jumped out to a 9-0 lead, had 14 of his 20 points in the first half as he connected on four of six from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes and was six for 11 from 3-point range in the game.
Coast Guard (5-2) led 26-16 with 7:45 left in the first half before going on a 14-2 spurt which was started on four straight free throws following a double technical foul, one on each team. The Bears led 40-18 with 5:05 left and took a 55-33 lead into the half. |

 Craig Johnson earned the first NEWMAC Player of the Week honors of the season.
Johnson has had an outstanding start in the first six games of the season with the Bears posting a 4-2 record.
He averaged 25 points and 10.5 rebounds to earn MVP honors and lead Coast Guard to the championship at the Maritime Tournament in Vallejo, California. |
