Jevon James has a career-high 22 points leading the Bears to their third straight win.
BOSTON, MASS.—(12/4/08)—Sophomore Jevon James had a career-high 22 points while junior Eric Hudson added a career-high 21 points leading Coast Guard, which shot a season-high 56.3 percent from the field, to its third straight win a 73-60 victory over Wentworth in a non-conference game.

James finished 10 of 13 from the floor and had a team-high nine rebounds. Senior Craig Johnson was also in double figures for the Bears with ten points. Coast Guard was

Sophomore Brett Huntley, who had a career-high seven assists, knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to open the game as Coast Guard, which led from start to finish, jumped out to an 8-0 lead with 18:30 left in the first half.

Women's Basketball - Bears Rally Falls Short; Lose 51-45

Maddie Buchert had 12 points in her collegiate debut.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/3/08)--Western New England used a 12-2 run to start the second half to break open a tie game at the half enroute to a 51-45 win over Coast Guard in a non-conference game.

Sophomore Taryn Belowsky led the Golden Bears with 13 points as WNEC (3-2) snapped a two-game losing streak in a game that was tied 26-26 at halftime.

WNEC led by as many as 13 in the second half, 43-30 with 9:25 left.

The Golden Bears led 45-35 with 4:34 left when Coast Guard scored nine of the next 11 points to make it a one possession game, trailing 47-44 with 1:22 left.

Belowsky made a pair of free throws with 1:14 left to push the lead to 49-44 and the Golden Bears held on.

Men's Basketball - Lewis Has Career-High 20 to lead Bears

Stefan Lewis had a career-high 20 points to lead the Bears past Anna Maria.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/2/08)--Junior Stefan Lewis had a career-high 20 points as he connected on a career-high six 3-pointers and sophomore Brett Huntley added a career-high 17 points leading Coast Guard to an 89-70 win over Anna Maria in a non-conference game.

Lewis, who hit a pair of trifectas in the first three minutes as the Bears jumped out to a 9-0 lead, had 14 of his 20 points in the first half as he connected on four of six from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes and was six for 11 from 3-point range in the game.

Coast Guard (5-2) led 26-16 with 7:45 left in the first half before going on a 14-2 spurt which was started on four straight free throws following a double technical foul, one on each team. The Bears led 40-18 with 5:05 left and took a 55-33 lead into the half.

Men's Basketball - Johnson Named NEWMAC Player of the Week

Craig Johnson earned the first NEWMAC Player of the Week honors of the season.
NEW LONDON, CONN.--(12/1/08)--Senior Craig Johnson has been named the first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men’s basketball Player of the Week for the 2008-2009 season.

Johnson has had an outstanding start in the first six games of the season with the Bears posting a 4-2 record.

He averaged 25 points and 10.5 rebounds to earn MVP honors and lead Coast Guard to the championship at the Maritime Tournament in Vallejo, California.
