EFTS Award

Call for Applications
The National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) Middle Atlantic Region (MAR) announces the availability of EFTS Awards for NN/LM MAR Full DOCLINE Members.

Purpose
The purpose of the EFTS award is to promote participation in EFTS among Full DOCLINE members and to improve the ease and cost-effectiveness of resource sharing throughout the region.  The EFTS award creates opportunities for non-EFTS libraries to receive initial funding to join the program and for current EFTS members to receive funding to continue their resource sharing efforts. Non-EFTS libraries may request up to $200 in starter funds. Current EFTS members may request up to $500 in continuing funds.  All funds will be distributed directly from NN/LM MAR and deposited to EFTS in the name of the applicant.

If you have questions or require assistance, contact Miguel A. Figueroa, Network Services Coordinator, at 1-800-338-7657, 212-263-4176, or rml@library.med.nyu.edu

Awards will be announced on the MAR discussion list, MARL, as well as the MARquee.

Submission Process
Applicants should complete the online application
The MAR staff will acknowledge receipt of your application and provide notification of awards within 4 weeks of the application deadline.
Applications are due by August 1, 2008.

Application Review Process
Applications will be reviewed by MAR staff.  Applicants will be notified of a decision within 4 weeks of application deadline.

Evaluation Criteria
Non-EFTS libraries will be evaluated based on their plan for promoting EFTS to administrators, matching commitments from administrators, and frequency of for-cost borrowing.

Current EFTS members will be evaluated based on the stated need for additional funds, the use of funds to promote library services or to reach out to specific audiences, and the library’s current for-cost borrowing trends.

20 awards of up to $200 will be made to non-EFTS libraries.  5 awards of up to $500 will be made to EFTS libraries.

Reporting Requirements
Non-EFTS libraries will be responsible for creating an account with EFTS ahead of funds being sent to EFTS.
A final report, parts of which will be used for a blog/newsletter article, must be submitted within 6 months of receipt of funds.  The article should address the population served by the resource sharing funds; possible impacts of funding on library services or perception of library services by institution staff; continuation of EFTS membership; and administrator’s perceptions of EFTS.

Award recipients agree to provide the names and contact information of their institution’s administrators.  NN/LM MAR will use the names and contact information for promotional purposes to encourage administrator’s continued support of the EFTS program after the initial starter funds.

Recipients agree to allow the NN/LM MAR to republish reports.  Reports must be submitted to rml@library.med.nyu.edu
