Jordan Statement on the Passing Of
Congressman Paul E. Gillmor
Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) issued the following statement on the sudden passing of Ohio Congressman Paul E. Gillmor:
My family and I join all of Ohio in expressing our shock and sadness at Paul’s passing.
Paul was a proud Republican, a proud Air Force veteran, and a longtime congressional leader in international issues. His two decades in Congress were preceded by an impressive 22-year career in the Ohio Senate, during which he served three terms as President of the Senate.
I had the unique opportunity to work with Paul on issues that affected our part of Ohio. He was a staunch ally in promoting the workers and the mission of Lima’s Joint Systems Manufacturing Center. We shared in the tragedy of the Bluffton University bus crash earlier this year, and were working closely to help our districts recover from last month’s flooding.
I served with Paul’s wife Karen in the state legislature and got to know their family over the years. Our prayers are with Karen and the Gillmor family as they attempt to find peace in the midst of this tragedy.
