Jordan Announces Grant for Delphos Fire Department

Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has approved an $85,740 operations and safety grant for the Delphos Fire Department.

“This announcement is outstanding news for Delphos,” Jordan said.  “This funding will help the city’s first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives.”

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.  More than 20,000 funding applications requesting a total of $3.1 billion were filed in the current grant round.

Since the program’s inception in 2001, nearly $10 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.  Delphos received $285,000 in AFG Program vehicle acquisition funding in 2006.
