Jordan Announces Grant for Maplewood Volunteer Fire Department

Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has approved a $59,242 operations and safety grant for the Maplewood Volunteer Fire Department.

“This is outstanding news for Maplewood,” Jordan said.  “These funds will help the department’s first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives.”

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.  More than 20,000 funding applications requesting a total of $3.1 billion were filed in the current grant round.

Since the program’s inception in 2001, more than $9.8 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.  Maplewood received $55,962 in AFG Program funding in 2004.
