Jordan Accepting Applications for Capitol Page Program

Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) is seeking Fourth District students interested in participating in the Page Program at the U.S. Capitol this summer.

Pages are sponsored by individual members of Congress.  During their service, they help with administrative duties related to House floor proceedings and act as messengers in the Capitol's complex of buildings.  They are required to live at the Page Residence Hall under the close supervision of Program staff and proctors.

Students selected for the Program will serve during one of two summer sessions (June 10-29 or July 8-August 3).  Later this year, Jordan will announce a separate application period for students interested in the Fall 2007-Spring 2008 school year program.

To apply, students must be at least 16 years of age at the time their service begins.  They must also have a cumulative grade average of "B" (3.0) or better in five major subject areas (English, mathematics, science, social studies, and a foreign language).  Summer program applicants may only serve as Pages in the summer prior to or immediately after their junior year in high school.

To request an application, students should contact Congressman Jordan's Lima office at 419-999-6455.

Completed applications (including three letters of recommendation) must be received in Jordan's Lima office (3121 West Elm Plaza, Lima, Ohio 45805) by Wednesday, April 11, to be considered.
