Jordan Announces Grant for Washington Township Fire Department

Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security has approved $46,989 in operations and safety funding for the Washington Township Fire Department in Richland County.

“Competition for federal funding is always tough, and Washington Township is a most deserving recipient,” Jordan said.  “This grant will help the township’s first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives.”

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.

Since the program’s inception in 2001, more than $10.6 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.  Washington Township received $18,704 in AFG Program funding in 2004.
