Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security has approved $111,340 in operations and safety grant funding for the Cairo-Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department.
“This is outstanding news for the department,” Jordan said. “This grant funding will help Monroe Township’s first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives.”
The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.
Since the program’s inception in 2001, more than $10.6 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.
