Jordan Announces Grant For
Southeast Hardin/Northwest Union Joint Fire District

Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security has approved a $76,000 operations and safety grant for the Southeast Hardin/Northwest Union Joint Fire District.

“Competition for federal funding is always tough, and the Southeast Hardin/Northwest Union Joint Fire District is a most deserving recipient,” Jordan said.  “This grant will help the region’s first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives.”

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.  More than 20,000 funding applications requesting a total of $3.1 billion were filed in the current grant round.

Since the program’s inception in 2001, more than $10.1 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.  The department received $95,202 in AFG Program funding in 2003.
