Jordan Commends Wapakoneta Fire Department On Federal Grant Award

Washington, DC -- The Department of Homeland Security has approved $102,860 in operations and safety grant funding for the Wapakoneta Fire Department, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today.

“This is outstanding news for Wapakoneta,” Jordan said.  “This funding will help the city’s first responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives.”

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.

Since the program’s inception in 2001, more than $10.7 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.  Wapakoneta received $97,965 in AFG funding in 2003 and an additional $75,510 in 2004.
