Jordan Announces Grant for Shelby Country Fire Department

Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security has approved an $18,990 grant for the Shelby County Fire Department.

“Competition for federal funding is always tough, and Shelby County is a most deserving recipient,” Jordan said.  “This grant will help these mutual aid responders be better prepared to fight fires and save lives.”

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.

Since the program’s inception in 2001, nearly $10.3 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.  Shelby County received $85,500 in AFG Program funding in 2003 and $100,985 in 2005.
