Jordan Announces Grant for Sidney Municipal Airport

Washington, DC -- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved $240,617 in entitlement funding to the City of Sidney for airport improvements, Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) has announced.

“Air infrastructure is important to every community and every local economy in our congressional district,” Jordan said.  “The businesses and individuals who rely on Sidney Municipal Airport will greatly benefit from the improvements made possible through these funds.”

The funding will be used to remove runway safety area obstructions to bring the airport in compliance with FAA safety standards.  Jordan wrote to the FAA in October in support of runway improvement projects at the airport.

The funds were awarded under the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP), which has provided federal monies for airport development since 1982.  Sidney received $149,625 in AIP funds last year.
