Jordan Announces Grant for Roundhead Fire Department

Washington, DC--Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) announced today that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has approved a $63,318 grant for Hardin County’s Roundhead Volunteer Fire Department.

“We’re pleased that Roundhead is benefiting from this DHS program,” Jordan said.  “This funding will help Roundhead’s first responders be better prepared to save lives and property.”

Jordan wrote to DHS earlier this year in support of Roundhead’s grant application, and notified the department of the award by telephone today.  The money will be put toward the purchase of turnout gear and self-contained breathing apparatuses for Roundhead’s firefighters.

The funding is made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, through which DHS will award roughly $500 million to fire departments and other emergency responders across the nation this year.  More than 20,000 funding applications requesting a total of $3.1 billion were filed in the current grant round.

Since the program’s inception in 2001, nearly $9.4 million has been awarded to fire departments in Ohio’s Fourth Congressional District.
