Jordan Urges Pelosi to join him at Petraeus Briefing

Washington, DC -- Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Urbana) urges House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to join him and other members of Congress at a bipartisan Iraq War briefing at 2:00 PM today.

The 90-minute classified briefing will be provided by:

-General David Petraeus, Commander of Multinational Force Iraq
-General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
-Gordon England, Deputy Secretary of Defense, and
-John Negroponte, Deputy Secretary of State.

"I am attending this briefing with an open mind to learn the most up-to-date military and diplomatic intelligence from the experts," said Jordan.

"Members of Congress are prepared to ask tough questions, and I know this will be a unique opportunity to get the full picture about where things stand," he added.  "I believe it is critical for every member of Congress--particularly those in leadership positions--to respectfully listen to what our military commanders have to say before deciding about funding and artificial timelines for our troops in battle."
