Lesotho Compact Signing
Public Outreach Meeting

On July 24, 2007, MCC CEO Ambassador John Danilovich in conjunction with U.S. Representative Diane Watson presented "MCC and Lesotho: A Compact for Growth" with the Prime Minister of Lesotho, Pakalitha Bethuel Mosisili.

The programs seeks to increase water supplies for industrial and domestic use, to mitigate the devastating affects of poor maternal health, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and other diseases, and to remove barriers to foreign and local private sector investment.  Ambassador Danilovich, Congresswoman Watson, and Minister Thahane will give remarks.  Prime Minister Mosisili will deliver the keynote address.

Following the Prime Minister's speech, MCC's Managing Director for Africa, Darius Mans, will moderate a panel discussion covering the Compact development process and the expected results of the program.

The distinguished panelists include: 

  • MCC's Country Director for Lesotho, Deidra Fair,
  • MCA Lesotho representative Sophia Mohapi,
  • Nora O'Connell, Vice President for Global Development Policy for Women's Edge.
