Step 3: Training
MedlinePlus training is important for the successful promotion of Information Rx. Training for physicians should include MedlinePlus' Interactive Health Tutorials, the Easy-to-Read and Low Vision links.
- The NN/LM has developed many courses, and all class materials reside at the NN/LM National Training Center and Clearinghouse (NTCC at: http://nnlm.gov/training/classes.html.
- To encourage health professionals to attend a class on MedlinePlus, offer CME credit. The NN/LM National Training Center and Clearinghouse contains information to assist you in securing CME credit for your courses. For more information, go to http://nnlm.gov/training/nlmsys/.
- MedlinePlus online tour - is an excellent tool in any class. It highlights many of the features of MedlinePlus and is approximately eight minutes long.
- Consider offering training at regular departmental meetings, residents' journal club, staff lounges, during orientation to the library, in their offices and/or at your library.
