The
goal of HOPWA Technical Assistance (TA) is to strengthen the management,
operation, and capacity of HOPWA grantees, project sponsors, and
potential applicants of HOPWA funding. Congress may appropriate
HOPWA funding for Technical Assistance awards that focus on the
following goals:
|
Help
communities develop comprehensive strategies for HIV/AIDS Housing.
|
|
Ensure
the sound management of HOPWA programs.
|
|
Provide
national HOPWA information to connect clients with assistance.
|
|
Use
HUD information management tools to help achieve performance at
the highest levels. |
Technical
Assistance support using HOPWA funds may be provided on a national
basis, a regional basis, or within a State or community.
The
Qualifications
Nonprofit
organizations, States, and units of general local government may
apply for Technical Assistance Funding grants. States, cities, and
local governments and nonprofit organizations may also apply for
HOPWA
Formula Program grants and HOPWA
Competitive Program grants.
HOPWA
TA applications are accepted as part of a separate competition under
the Community Development Technical Assistance (CDTA) section of
the HUD Super Notice
of Funding Availability (SuperNOFA). Additional information
on competitive grant qualifications is available in HUD's SuperNOFA
and in the Related Information on this page. More detailed information
on the application process is available through the How
Do I Apply section of this site.
The
Funding
Under
the Community Development Technical Assistance (CDTA) NOFA, approximately
$2 million in funding is being provided to fund HOPWA National Technical
Assistance for fiscal year 2003. This represents approximately one
percent of available HOPWA appropriations. In December 2003, HUD
selected four national HOPWA TA providers: Center for Urban and
Community Services, Inc. (CUCS) in New York City, AIDS Housing of
Washington, Inc. (AHW) in Seattle, WA, Bailey House Inc. (BHI),
in New York City and AIDS Housing Corporation, Inc. (AHC), in Boston,
MA.
