Social Education
Our flagship journal, Social Education contains a balance of theoretical content and practical ideas for classroom use. Our award-winning resources include techniques for using teaching materials in the classroom, information on the latest instructional technology, reviews of educational media, research on significant topics related to social studies, and lesson plans that can be applied to various disciplines. The journal is organized into recurring departments including, Looking at the Law, Surfing the Net, and Teaching with Documents. Social Studies and the Young Learner
The goal of Social Studies and the Young Learner is to capture and enthuse elementary teachers across the country by providing relevant and useful information about the teaching of social studies to elementary students.The teaching techniques presented are designed to stimulate the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills vital to classroom success. SSYL is published quarterly, September through May.

Middle Level Learning
Middle Level Learning brings together lesson ideas and theoretical content focused on social studies in the middle grades. Published 3 times yearly, MLL is included as a supplement to Social Education and Social Studies and the Young Learner.

Bulletins and Books
NCSS Bulletins, published twice-yearly in book form, provide an in-depth focus on specific disciplines within social studies. Bulletins and other special books are sent to members as a benefit of Comprehensive membership in NCSS.

Curriculum Standards
Expectations of Excellence: Curriculum Standards for Social Studies. This valuable resource defines and presents each of the ten thematic strands and correlated performance expectations for three distinct levels: early grades, middle grades, and high schools. Included are an executive summary and a special supplement on powerful teaching and learning.

Theory and Research in Social Education
Theory and Research in Social Education is published by the College and University Faculty Assembly of NCSS and is available to CUFA members at reduced rates. Articles cover a variety of topics: teacher training; learning theory and child development research; models and theories used in developing social studies curricula; and schemes for student participation and social action. TRSE is published quarterly.

The Social Studies Professional
TSSP is the official newsletter of National Council for the Social Studies, featuring the latest news, new resource and professional development listings, and information on local and state meetings. TSSP is published 6 times annually and is a benefit of membership in NCSS.

PASS
PASS stands for Powerful and Authentic Social Studies. This comprehensive professional development package, which includes a DVD or video, provides social studies educators with professional training in curriculum design, assessment, and instruction in a standards-based environment.
