GSA Launches Español.govPosted October 17, 2003 The Spanish-language version of the FirstGov.gov website, FirstGov en Español (www.espanol.gov ), officially launched on October 16, 2003. Users can search the site by typing in a word or phrase in Spanish to access 600 links to 110,000 Spanish-language government web pages. FirstGov en Español links to 55 federal departments and agencies, 37 States, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. FirstGov en Español was developed to support the fastest growing demographic group in the United States, as reported in the 2000 Census. “FirstGov en Español is yet another example of making it easier for the public to interact with federal government agencies,” announced GSA Administrator Stephen A. Perry during the formal launch of the site. As with FirstGov.gov, the U.S. government’s official web portal, FirstGov en Español offers e-mail access. Questions can be submitted in Spanish and answers will be provided in Spanish. Those preferring to phone in their questions about federal programs and services, can call 1-800 FED-INFO and speak with a Spanish-speaking information specialist Monday through Friday 8am to 8pm ET.
