Introduction

The Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains in Wyoming. The Equality State is bounded on the north by Montana, on the east by South Dakota and Nebraska, on the south by Colorado and Utah, and on the west by Utah, Idaho and Montana. Wyoming is the ninth largest state in the United States containing 97,914 square miles, but is the least populous state in the Union and ranks 49th in population density with an average of 5 people per square mile. Wyoming reported a population of 506,529 people in 2004. The population of Wyoming is mostly White (88.9%) along with Hispanics at 6.4% and American Indian at 2.3%. The capital and the state's largest city is Cheyenne.

The Wyoming State Liaison strives to narrow the gap of health disparities by providing access to quality health care and collaborating with agencies and organizations statewide to develop a stable infrastructure to support those efforts.

Health Resources

Brain Injury Association of Wyoming -- the web site provides online resources about brain damage prevention, education and research. It also has several links to local support groups and health care services that focus on brain damage.

Department of Health--Wyoming -- The WDOH is the central state point of contact for all public health issues in Wyoming. This web site contains disease fact sheets, information on public health programs in Wyoming which support a healthier population, the latest happenings in the news regarding health, information on Wyoming's Children's Health Insurance (CHIP) program and Wyoming's Medicaid program, information on local health departments and a section devoted to Wyoming health data incorporating dynamic indicator profiles.

GoWYLD! Guide to Wyoming Health Information -- provided by the Wyoming State Library, Go WYLD is a comprehensive list of local and national health resources. It also provides links to hospitals that are located in the state.

Wyoming HealthCare Commission -- The commission was created to examine a wider variety of healthcare issues that impact the state of Wyoming and to draft recommendations to improve both access and quality of Wyoming healthcare. The web site contains the commission's meeting notes and an archive of its publications.

Wyoming Health Care Links -- the site contains links to the Wyoming State Health Department and Divisions along with links to the states local health departments and state health associations.

Wyoming State Resources -- this site contains a listing of state resources regarding children with disabilities and their parents.

Community Health

Community Action Partnership -- the web site is dedicated to helping low-income families and individuals in Laramie County, Wyoming. The site contains links to variety of services such as a free clinic, emergency care, and low-cost medical insurance for children.

Community and Family Health Resources -- an online online bibliography, provided by the Wyoming Department of Health, containing links to reliable state and national health care resources located on the Internet.

Connect Wyoming-- an online database of health information for the state of Wyoming. The web site houses a searchable health database covering several health and insurance topics, a calendar of health events, and several specialized databases dedicated to Breast Cancer, Senior Citizens, and Medicaid recipients.

Rural Health

Center for Rural Health Research and Education--University of Wyoming -- the CRHRE web site is a gateway for many resources concerning rural health in the State of Wyoming. The web site it intended to support research activities by providing links to national and local health care resources that focus on rural health. It also provides links to health education and training programs.

Wyoming Office of Rural Health -- another division of the Wyoming Department of Health. This division is focused on improving rural health by promoting collaborations between communities and state/private organizations and to serve as clearinghouse for health resources for the state of Wyoming.

Teens and Children

Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) -- CHIP is a state program to ensure that children of both working and non-working families have the health care that they need. The site contains links on how to qualify for low-cost children's health care in Wyoming.

Maternal and Child Health Bureau -- A division of the Wyoming Department of Health. The site has links to federal, state and local community health partners that focus on providing health to all child in the state of Wyoming. It also links to other State Health Department divisions.

UPLIFT Wyoming -- a web site dedicated to providing support, education and advocacy for children with behavioral, emotional or mental disorders in the state of Wyoming. It the site has links to educational programs and resources, publications, and local support groups in Wyoming.

Seniors

Department of Health--Aging Division -- This division of the Department is dedicated to improving healthcare for senior citizens in Wyoming. The site has two sub-divisions: one for the seniors and one for health care providers that specialize in senior care. Both of these sub-divisions have links to national, state, and local services and programs as well as educational resources.

Home Health Care Alliance of Wyoming -- The Alliance is supports home health and hospice care as opposed to nursing home care. The web site has comprehensive list of educational materials concerning home health care programs and services for both the provider and the consumers

Senior Resource Roundup -- the web site contains a comprehensive list links covering the basic health care links and educational materials as well as a medical dictionary and links to local senior health providers and national and state wide senior programs.

Minority and Underserved

Developmental Disabilities Division -- a division of the Wyoming Department of Health. The web site contains educational resources for both providers and consumers as well as information regarding state programs, licensing and links to other state health resources.

Wyoming Epilepsy Association -- the web site provides a general overview of the conditions as well as specialized pages aimed at children and teens regarding education and treatment. The site also has links to local support groups within the state.

Wyoming Institute for Disabilities -- the Institute provides research, information and education services, and technical assistance regarding disabilities to both the state of Wyoming and the University of Wyoming. It has comprehensive list of link pertaining to Community Services, Research and Education Activities as well as Training for both families and providers alike.

Blue Envelope Health Fund. This Casper-based organization is dedicated to promoting education, prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer, heart disease and mental illness.

Wyoming Health Council The Wyoming Health Council (WHC) is dedicated to community-based services and works to ensure access to comprehensive, high- quality voluntary family planning and other healthcare services such as Rural/Frontier Women's Health and Migrant Health throughout Wyoming.

Blue Cross, Blue Shield of Wyoming -- the web site details health insurance provided by Blue Cross, Blue Shield in the state of Wyoming. The site encompasses both health consumers as well as professional health care providers. It also has a physician locater along with online resources and links regarding Medicare/Medicaid and Drugs.

Wyoming Insurance Department --The mission of this department is to safeguard those affected by the business of insurance through the fulfillment of statutory obligations and by promoting the fair and just treatment of all parties to insurance transactions. Wyoming Project

The objective is to promote the use of the products and services of the National Library of Medicine and the National Network of Libraries of Medicine to the people of Wyoming, to collaborate with the health professionals of the State, and to contribute to the work of the MidContinental Region's special projects liaisons.
