The U.S. Department of Energy announced that Elizabeth Sellers, manager of the Department’s Idaho Operations Office, has been selected as one of 23 senior executives awarded Meritorious Presidential Rank awards for exemplary federal service.

“It is a humbling honor to be recognized by the President and DOE leadership for this award,” Elizabeth Sellers said. “I am privileged to be able to work with and rely on such capable and dedicated group of public servants at the Department of Energy.”

Award recipients are nominated by Departmental leadership and evaluated by a board of private citizens before ultimate selection by President George W. Bush. Only 5% of DOE’s career Senior Executive Service corps is awarded the Meritorious Executive rank each year.

Sellers manages three major contracts at the Idaho National Laboratory Site. DOE and its contractors in Idaho focus on INL’s mission of developing and delivering cost-effective solutions to fundamental and advanced challenges in nuclear energy and other energy resources, national security, and environmental management. For the past four years, the Idaho Operations Office has undergone a rigorous restructuring of its contract management and oversight responsibilities. This resulted in an increased emphasis being placed on internal management systems and safety.

The Idaho National Laboratory is the nation’s lead nuclear energy lab focused on ensuring the nation's energy security with safe, competitive and sustainable energy systems, and unique national and homeland security capabilities.
