President signs S.J. Res. 18
into law (December 1, 2003)
Passage of S.J. Res. 18 by the House - sending the Joint Resolution commemorating
the 25th anniversary of the IGAct to the White House for signature by the President.
H.J. Res. 70, "Recognizing Inspectors General over the
last 25 years in their efforts to prevent and detect waste, fraud, abuse, and
mismanagement, and to promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the
Federal Government"
...was passed by the House on a voice vote on 10/15/03. Congressmen
LaTourette (R-OH) and Wexler (D-FL) gave remarks in support of H.J. Res. 70.
The title of H.J. Res. 70 was amended to reflect the language in S.J. Res.
18 (the companion measure in the Senate.) The House proceeded with forty minutes
of debate on
H.J. Res. 70.
S. J. Res. 18, "Commending the Inspectors General for
their efforts to prevent and detect waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagment, and to
promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the Federal Government during the
past 25 years"
