New York, NY -- A Rutgers University website: http://www.njserves.rutgers.edu enables citizens, foundations, corporations, government officials and others to link to recovery groups that are responding to the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in Manhattan.
"Our searchable Web directory lists more than 40,000 New Jersey civic organizations," said Michael Shafer, project director of the Rutgers Citizenship and Service Education (CARE) Program. "Recently, we added a 'Disaster Resources' section in response to the WTC attacks. We gathered a list of links throughout the New York and New Jersey region, including airlines, employers and hospitals, as well as organizations that provide information to victims - such as the American Red Cross, the New Jersey "Family Assistance Center," and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)."
Designed by Rutgers' students and funded by corporate sponsors, www.njserves.org. gets 1.2 million "hits" per year. Besides links to WTC-disaster recovery agencies, the website provides connections to such civic organizations as the Boys and Girls Clubs, hospices, schools, houses of worship, volunteer centers, gymnastics schools, fraternal organizations, advocacy groups, gardening clubs, United Ways, museums, political campaigns, community theater groups, and more.
