Guide Number Identifies the specific guide, in the 2000 Emergency Response Guidebook, which alerts first responders to potential dangers arising from the threat of life, explosion or health hazards; and recommends initial emergency actions regarding evacuation/isolation of the affected area, firefighting, leaking containers, spill containment and first aid.
 
United Nations NA Number Hazardous materials identifier. Four-digit number assigned to hazardous materials, i.e., UN 2202. Identification numbers are listed in the Hazardous Materials Table (49 CFR, 172.101).

These numbers are used for identification and emergency response.
