Lithium Tokamak Experiment Achieves First Plasma

Physicist Dick Majeski at LTX

PPPL's Lithium Tokamak Experiment (LTX) produced its first plasma in late September. The primary goal of the experiment is to investigate liquid lithium as a plasma-facing component (PFC). The LTX program, headed by co-principal investigators Bob Kaita, Dick Majeski, and Leonid Zakharov, extends the successful experiments on the Current Drive Experiment-Upgrade (CDX-U).
