Tom Pyke is responsible for guiding the Department's effective use of information technology (IT) and for managing the Department's IT resources, with an annual budget of $2.1 billion. Before joining the Department of Energy, Tom was the Chief Information Officer of the Department of Commerce, June 2001 to November 2005.

Deputy Chief Information Officer

Before coming to the Department of Energy as the Deputy Chief Information Officer in October 2006, Carl Staton served for 26 years in the Federal government in various Information Technology (IT) positions in the Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Associate CIO for IT Corporate Management

Kevin R. Cooke manages the budget and all contracts for the CIO. At the corporate level, he manages acquisitions of enterprise agreements for information technology services, hardware and software.

William Hunteman is leading the revitalization of the Department's Cyber Security Program and serves as the DOE Computer Information Security Officer (CISO).

Associate CIO for IT Support Services

As head of IT Support Services, Bill oversee implementation of the DOE IT MEO, an innovative public/private partnership, in providing IT support services to DOE headquarters and to DOE Federal offices across the United States. Bill comes to DOE from the Department of Commerce, where he was Director of the Office of IT Security, Infrastructure and Technology in the Commerce CIO’s office since 2003.  Previously, he was Deputy CIO of the FCC, where his portfolio included IT operations, and he earlier held various positions overseeing IT operations and other activities at the Department of Interior.
