State Profile

Pennsylvania is located in the Middle Atlantic region of the United States, with its state capital located in Harrisburg. Pennsylvania has 67 counties spread over 46,058.2 square miles of land. The largest county is Philadelphia county. According to the 2000 Census, Pennsylvania has a population of 12,281,054 residents. Pennsylvania residents are predominantly white (85.4), with a significant black population (10%). Hispanics make up only 3.2% of the population, Asians make up the remaining 1.8% of the state's population.
