Environmental Health Perspectives Volume 114, Number 8, August 2006
Environmental Health Perspectives August 2006 On the Cover | For many Americans today, the fruit of their labors includes a house in the suburbs with all the benefits of living outside urban areas. As some are coming to discover, though, there may be a worm in the apple. Houses in subdivisions built on former orchard lands may be sitting on soil still contaminated with the toxic chemicals used in earlier agricultural pesticides. The Focus (p. A 470) looks at the issue of building on former orchards and the bite it may take out of some American dreams.
