Environmental Health Perspectives December 1996 On The Cover:Two articles on xenoestrogens describe assays and report endocrine disruption in response to toxicants in the environment. Combinations of estrogen-mimicking pesticides found in eggs of alligators from Lake Apopka interfere with binding of steroids to endocrine receptors, which may lead to the reproductive anomalies observed in their offspring.
