Member Input

The MidContinental Region encourages member input on all aspects of Regional programming. Two formal mechanisms have been put in place - the Network Data Inventory Questionnaire and regional focus groups. The first inventory was completed in late 2002 and established baseline data for the region - who are our members, what resources do they have available to them, what kinds of teaching and outreach activities do they do, how do they address their continuing education needs, and what services and programs of the RML and the NLM do they use and find valuable. A followup inventory was completed in late 2005. Focus groups were held around the region in Spring and Summer, 2003 and again in Spring 2006.

Member input along with the data derived from the Network Data Inventory were used to inform programming during years 3-5 of the first RML contract. Results of the 2005 Network Data Inventory have been compared with the 2002 Inventory and again are being used in planning RML programming. The RML notes many gains throughout the region - in access to electronic resources, outreach and training activities, and awareness of RML, NNLM and NLM resources and services. The RML notes with concern the loss of personnel in hospital libraries - both at the professional and non-professional levels.

Reports of the results of the Network Data Inventories for 2002 and 2005 and the Focus Groups held in 2002-2003 and 2006 are available for download.

Members are encouraged to contact their liaison, the Assessment and Evaluation Liaison or the RML office with questions, concerns or for assistance in designing and conducting evaluation of their programs.
