FY06 Energy and Water Appropriations bill includes $21.048 million for Eastern North Carolina

Washington, D.C.- Third District Representative Walter B. Jones today announced the inclusion of more than $21 million in funding for Eastern North Carolina in the Fiscal Year 2006 Energy and Water Appropriations bill passed yesterday.

“I am pleased to have worked with both Senator Richard Burr and Senator Elizabeth Dole in the battle to secure funding for these critical projects,” Congressman Jones said.

“While the total amount of funding allocated by the FY06 Energy and Water Appropriations bill is not reflective of the actual needs of Eastern North Carolina, I am pleased that more than $21 million in funding has been approved for a number of important dredging projects,” Jones said

Funding has been allocated for the following projects: Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway: $1,389,000; Oregon Inlet: $7,855,000; Morehead City Harbor: $3,218,000; New River Inlet: $945,000; Silver Lake Harbor: $1,386,000; Dismal Swamp Canal: $850,000; Dare County Beaches (Bodie Island): $1,875,000; Bogue Banks: $75,000; Currituck Sound: $150,000; Neuse River Basin: $130,000; Surf City and North Topsail Beach: $175,000; Morehead City/Carteret County Section 933 Project: $3,000,000
