MCC CEO Welcomes Comments from Secretary of State-Designate Clinton’s Senate Testimony

Clinton says MCC is a “very creative and innovative approach”

Washington, D.C.—Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) CEO Ambassador John Danilovich made the following statement today following Senator Hillary Clinton’s remarks regarding MCC at her Senate confirmation hearing to be U.S. Secretary of State:

“I would like to thank Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton for her kind and constructive comments about MCC at her Senate confirmation hearing today. As the Secretary of State serves as the Chair of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, we are looking forward to the leadership of Secretary-designate Clinton on our Board of Directors to help the agency continue to tackle the important issue of reducing global poverty. I applaud her comments today that show a clear commitment to U.S. development assistance.”

At her Senate Foreign Relations Committee confirmation hearing, Senator Clinton submitted the following remarks about MCC:

“President-Elect Obama supports the MCC, and the principle of greater accountability in our foreign assistance programs. It represents a worthy new approach to poverty reduction and combating corruption…The Obama Administration looks forward to working to build on the promise of the MCC as we move forward with modernizing U.S. foreign assistance programs.”
