CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Flood insurance policy holders with questions about claims resulting from Hurricane Ivan may visit a mitigation specialist at a nearby Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) on the issues, state and federal recovery officials said today.

Federal Coordinating Officer Lou Botta of the Federal Emergency Management Agency said,“We have centers open in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and each has a mitigation specialist. If you have unresolved flood insurance issues, a visit may help bring clarification for your questions.”

The DRCs in West Virginia operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week until further notice at:

Wellsburg Fireman’s Hall, 1121 Yankee St., Wellsburg, Brooke County, WV

Millsop Community Center, 3420 Main St., Weirton, Hancock County, WV

Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 6823 Sissonville Dr., Sissonville, Kanawha County, WV

Delf-Norona Museum, 801 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville, Marshall County, WV

New Martinsville City Hall, 191 Main Street, New Martinsville, Wetzel County, WV

Old Social Security Building, 56 16th St., Wheeling, Ohio County, WV.

Pleasants County Courthouse, corner of Barkwill Street and Court Lane (Off State Rt. 2), St. Mary’s, WV

In Ohio, DRCs are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday until further notice at:

Belmont County Engineers Garage, 45741 Roscoe Road, St. Clairsville, Ohio.

Washington County Courthouse, 205 Putnam Street, Marietta, Ohio

In Pennsylvania, DRCs are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week until further notice at:

Northern Lights Shopping Center, Route 65, Economy Borough in Beaver County, Pennsylvania

Washington Mall (Old National Record Mart Building), 301 Oak Spring Road, Washington, Washington County, Pa.

Federal and state disaster recovery officials encourage individuals to register for disaster assistance by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) toll-free number 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The phone lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice. Persons who are hearing- or speech-impaired can register by calling TTY 1-800-462-7585.

On March 1, 2003, FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. FEMA's continuing mission within the new department is to lead the effort to prepare the nation for all hazards and effectively manage federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration.
