U.S. CONGRESSMAN JOHN SHADEGG REPRESENTING THE 3RD DISTRICT OF ARIZONA

Veterans

Veterans

Since our nation’s birth, over one million servicemen and women have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom, prosperity, and way of life.  Ours is the greatest country in the world.  Members of our Armed Forces who give willingly of themselves and answer the call to defend this nation, whether in peacetime or wartime, deserve the eternal gratitude of the American people.

No matter one’s position on the current War on Terror or on past wars, American veterans deserve our respect.  I have had the privilege of visiting with wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  Many have said that this generation is America’s next “Greatest Generation,” and I could not agree more.  The courage, humility, and selflessness displayed by these young men and women was astounding.  It was an honor to be in their presence, and I am proud to come from a nation that produces such extraordinary individuals.

I have supported, and will continue to support, legislation that provides our servicemen and women with the funding and equipment necessary to successfully carryout their mission.  Additionally, I will work to see that our veterans are treated with honor and dignity by ensuring that they receive the benefits to which they are entitled.
